Remember back when it was kinda uncool to be “launched from a reality TV show”?

Well, it would seem that if you can escape that stigma with class and some bloody awesome creative ventures, you’re guaranteed to be embraced by the masses in the way Guy Sebastian and Jessica Mauboy were this week.

Elsewhere on this Chart Feed, it has also been a good week for the Spice Girls, Emeli Sande, Rita Ora and Flo Rida.

Guy Sebastian‘s newest single ‘Battle Scars’ (featuring Lupe Fiasco) has debuted straight on top of the ARIA charts this week, making it the Aussie pop prince’s sixth #1 single. The best thing about this feat is that he achieved it all without a major televised performance, months of teasers and build up etc.

The song just arrived – conquered the iTunes charts, became the most added new song to radios last week – and boom! Making it rain cash money. All before he even climbs back onto our small screens for tonight’s Australian X Factor season return.

The Sapphires soundtrack leaps to the top of the Aussie album charts – boosted by rave reviews for the movie and its stunning songs. Jessica Mauboy’s lead single from this project ‘Gotcha’ finally enters the Top 50.

Jason Derulo‘s Future History re-release takes the album back to the charts this week, returning at #26 in Australia. Meanwhile, over at the singles bar ‘Pick Up The Pieces’ enters at #63.

Can you imagine what Kelendria could achieve if she was actually promoting her music with Everybody Dance Now on? I mean, I know it’s a sinking ship but it’s better than not having any opportunities.

Far East Movement‘s Dirty Bass album finally enters our ARIA Top 50 at #37 this week, bolstered by a newly acquired Top 20 hit. The American troupe’s last album Free Wired only made #65 here despite having a global smash in ‘Like A G6′ and ‘Rocketeer’.

Spice Girls‘ Greatest Hits compilation returns to our ARIA charts at #48 this week thanks to their life changing Closing Ceremony performance. Over in the UK, the Spice Girls‘ ‘Spice Up Your Life’ makes a quiet return at #95 while the Greatest Hits leaps from #164 to #18 on the UK album charts. Could your fave 90s pop group? Didn’t think so.

Delta Goodrem‘s fortune appears to be fading somewhat. ‘Dancing With A Broken Heart’ enters at a meagre #15 on the ARIA charts this week, which is OK – heck, great – if you were Altiyan Childs. But not if you’re Australia’s prime goddess of song.

The Presets‘ new single ‘Ghosts’ debuts at a meagre #81 on our ARIA charts. Do you just get a sense that they’ll do better with the album Pacifica when it drops next month?

No Doubt‘s ‘Settle Down’ continues to freefall, sinking from #50 to #93 this week in Australia. The all important comeback single has failed to make a dent on any Top 20 charts anywhere. In the US, it made #34 on the Billboard Hot 100 and in Canada, #24. ‘Settle Down’ will drop in the UK on 16 September – a week before the album arrives globally.

Rita Ora claims her third consecutive UK #1 single with ‘How We Do (Party)’. Meanwhile, on an international level, her last hit ‘RIP’ (featuring Tinie Tempah) becomes the second most added new song to Australian radios this week. Could this follow the recent local Top 10 success of ‘How We Do (Party)’? Over in America, ‘RIP’ makes its hot shot debut at #41 on the US Billboard Dance/Club Play Songs chart.

Emeli Sande returns to the top of the UK album charts with Our Version of Events this week. ’Read All About It (Part III)’ – also known as the solo version and only version you need to concern yourself with – debuts at #3 on the single charts. Down here in Australia, the track enters at #58 on our ARIA charts this week, thanks to her performance at the Olympic Closing Ceremony.

Kate Bush‘s 2012 remix of ‘Running Up That Hill’ crashes in at #6 on the UK charts – thanks to the Closing Ceremony once again, even though Bush wasn’t there to deliver a performance.

George Michael‘s ‘White Light’ enters at #15 in the UK this week, making it his eighth Top 20 single this century. Down here in Australia, ‘White Light’ slides in at #92 on our ARIA charts – obviously not generating much care factor despite making the front page of our iTunes store for a bit.

Cheryl‘s summery new single ‘Under The Sun’ rises to #26 on the UK charts, proving to be one of her slowest rising singles yet. Most of the time, she’s a front-heavy seller doing smashingly well with first week sales but due to the Olympics, promo has had to wait.

One Direction‘s ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ creeps back at #32 a week after their Olympics Closing Ceremony performance. Take That‘s ‘Rule The World’ enjoyed similar success returning at #52.

Aiden Grimshaw‘s new single ‘Curtain Call’ enters at #49 this week. His debut ‘Is This Love?’ made a splash at #35, so it’s fair to say, although there’s a fan base out there – he’s almost destined to be a critics/tastemakers fave. I’m quite interested to hear his debut album Misty Eye actually, which arrives in the UK today.

Cher‘s ‘Believe’ makes an astonishing return to #40 on the UK dance charts. What, why? The Xenomania-produced anthem will celebrate 14 years out in the world this November. Wouldn’t it be amazing if there was some new remix?

Flo Rida‘s vile ‘Whistle’ finally tops the US Billboard Hot 100, knocking Carly Rae Jepsen‘s ‘Call Me Maybe’ after an enviable nine week reign. The win was contributed by ‘Whistle’ heading to the top of the Digital Songs chart (with 217,000 downloads sold that week) and an 11% increase on the Radio Songs chart.

This is now Flo Rida‘s third US #1 hit – the last ones were 2008′s epic 10-week run with ‘Low’ and 2009′s ‘Right Round’ featuring an uncredited Ke$ha.

Mumford and Sons‘ ‘I Will Wait’ is the biggest new single in America this week – debuting at #23 on the Billboard Hot 100. Also, it is the band their best digital sales week yet, debuting on the US Billboard Digital Song chart at #4 with 153,000 copies sold. Here in Australia, ‘I Will Wait’ becomes the third most added new song to local radios this week.

Ellie Goulding‘s ‘Lights’ heads to the top of the US Hot 100 Airplay charts, making her the first British female solo artist to do so since Adele. Like, duh.

Kelly Clarkson‘s ‘Dark Side’ slides to the top of the Dance/Club Play Charts. Elsewhere, Scissor Sisters‘ fierce-as-fuck ‘Let’s Have A Kiki’ sashays to #6 – certifying it as the biggest gainer on the floor. Emeli Sande‘s ‘Daddy’ enters at #47 and right behind at #48 is Pink‘s deafening ‘Blow Me (One Last Kiss)’.

Youngblood Hawke‘s amazing ‘We Come Running’ debuts at #32 on the US Billboard Alternative Songs chart. Mark my words, this will be a huge global smash.

Taylor Swift’s ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ enters at #72 on the US Billboard Hot 100, but it’s not based on a full week’s sales. It’s expected to go #1 this coming week so stay tuned. As you all know, the radio uptake for ‘Never’ has been defining – debuting at #25 on the US Airplay Hot 100. Elsewhere, ‘Never’ is the most added new song to Australian radios this week.

Bloc Party‘s Four is likely to be the biggest new album on the ARIA charts next week. It has already clocked #1 on iTunes. Keep an eye out for strong performers from Owl City‘s new album The Midsummer Station and The Darkness‘ Hot Cakes too.

Ricki-Lee‘s Fear & Freedom album is pretty much certain to make the ARIA Top 10 next week. Top 5 – if it’s a slow sales week. Our gurl has already claimed #2 on the overall Australian iTunes store and she’s doing a stack of in store signings this week to bump up her physical sales too. Snaps for brilliant strategy.

Timomatic‘s self-titled album arrives in stores this Friday, so with the backing of several hit singles here, we can expect for it to chart somewhere in the Top 20, yeah?
